His Excellency Engineer Mohammed Hamza Al Qasim holds the position of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education since July 2024.
In his previous capacity as the Director General of the Emirates Schools Establishment, Al Qasim led a number of transformative initiatives in the education sector such as the launch of 11 educational complexes accommodating more than 28,00 students and uplifting the quality of school facilities. He also redefined the engagement with ESE's main stakeholders through creating different open platforms for parents and teachers to voice out their concerns and be part of the decision-making process. His Excellency also rolled out a standard assessment of schools to create a clear roadmap towards elevating the quality of education in public schools.
Al Qasim held several leadership positions in the federal government, where he served as Director of the Advanced Technology Development and Adoption Department at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MolAT) where he contributed to the development and implementation of Operation 300bn, the national industry and advanced technology strategy. He also led the launch of the UAE Industry 4.0 program, setting the path of industry 4.0 transformation in the UAE's industrial sector.
Prior to that Al Qasim held several leadership positions in the oil and gas sector, mainly at Total and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC Onshore), where he worked on transformational projects in a number of countries around the world which contributed to the increase of total oil production, leading the development of projects worth $ 7 billion in onshore fields.
In addition to his responsibilities in the education sector, His Excellency is a member of many committees and councils in a number of educational and national institutions, including: the Board of Trustees of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, and membership in the Supervisory Committee for Tolerance Schools in the UAE, in addition to membership in the Arabic Language Advisory Council and the Anti-Narcotics Council chaired by Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
His Excellency Engineer Mohamed Al Qasim holds a Master's degree in Reservoir Geoscience and Engineering from the French Petroleum Institute in France, and a Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada.
