The Third Meeting of UNESCO Education Category II Centers

In response to the invitation extended by the Regional Centre for Educational Planning (RCEP) Sharjah, the third meeting of The Third Meeting of UNESCO Education Category II Centers is scheduled to be convened between 6-7th March-2013. This third meeting will be inaugurated by H.E. Humaid Mohamed Al Qutami, MOE Minister and Chairperson of RCEP Governing Board, at Al Noor Hall in the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City (DFC). • It is worth mentioning that the meeting sessions on Wednesday 7th of March will be held at RCEP Sharjah University City. • The meetings of Category II Centers is decided by UNESCO to be biennial ones. The first meeting was held on 2009 and hosted by the International Research & Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) in Beijing China, while the second meeting was held on 2011 and hosted by Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) in Seoul, Republic of Korea. • This third Category II meeting will be attended by 9 Centers and representatives from UNESCO Head Quarter, UNESCO Regional Bureau and Clusters (Beirut & Doha), Category I Centers, mainly The International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), The International Bureau of Education (IBE) and UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL). • The 9 Category II Centers who will attend this third meeting are: RCEP Sharjah, Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APC EIU) Manila- Philippine, International Centre for Girls and Women’s Education in Africa (CIEFFA) Burkina Faso, Guidance, Counseling and Youth Development Centre for Africa (GCYDCA), International Research and Training Center for Rural Education (INRULED), The Regional Centre for Childhood Care and Education (RCECCE), and the Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence (RCQE) Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. • The third meeting will tackle some issues e.g. Identification of opportunities for collaborative projects among Category I Institutes, UNESCO Regional Bureau and Category II Centers. • Evaluation and discussion of ways of improving the effectiveness of the Category (2) Centers network. • Identification of ways that might enhances the impact and visibility of Education Category (2) Centers.​
