His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended on Tuesday morning, the launching of the educational forum on teacher education, which is organized by the Regional Center for Educational Planning at Al Qasimia University Theater.
The forum opening ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem of the United Arab Emirates. After that, His Excellency Eng. Hussain Ibrahim Al-Hammadi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Regional Center for Educational Planning, delivered a speech in which he stressed that this forum was convened for the sake of dialogue on the development of the education profession, maker of future generations. The teacher who carried and carries the banner of this noble profession must love it, excel in its skills, be in tune with its values, has a sense of belonging to his homeland and the future of his nation, cares for the people of his society and contributes to their development physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and socially.
His Excellency pointed out that this will only be achieved through the preparation of the teacher in educational institutions and colleges of education, academically, educationally and culturally, in order for the teacher to become highly efficient, professional, and in tune with the present century of technological and cognitive challenges and globalization.
The Minister of Education pointed out that the forum aims through this group of thinkers and educators to highlight the successful international experiences in the field of teacher and career path preparation, which will allow us to build teacher education policies in the Gulf region and achieve a quantum leap in the design of the preparation programs and creating an attractive professional environment for the teacher.
His Excellency Eng. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi concluded by saying: "We hope that this forum will achieve its objectives and come out with an ideal model for preparing the teacher and charting a path for his/her career, which will guide our ministries in the Gulf countries in drawing up the teachers' policies." His Excellency extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his patronage of this forum and his honoring it by attending, and for his leading role in the service of the education sector and the teachers.
Khalfan Anoun Al Nuaimi, Director of Support Services at the Regional Center for Educational Planning gave a speech, in which he said: "The Regional Center for Educational Planning, within the framework of its mandate according to its establishing and operating agreement between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and UNESCO, has frequently organized conferences, scientific forums, policy dialogue and symposia, with the aim of spreading knowledge and supporting the education systems in the Gulf States. "
He added: "The Teacher Education Forum may be one of these scientific forums, which discuss one of the key issues facing putting a policy that leads to the preparation of a teacher capable of dealing with the challenges of the second millennium. The teacher is undoubtedly the cornerstone of the educational process. That is why many nations of the world paid a lot of attention to the preparation, ownership and empowerment with the skills and competencies that help him/her to improve his practices and teaching strategies. Also, enabling him/her to efficiently manage the processes of teaching and learning, as well as giving him/her incentives and rewards and high salaries."
During the ceremony, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was honored for his pioneering role in the service of education and teachers, and his continuous keenness to promote the educational process at all levels, and for Highness' unlimited support for the culture itself, which stems from his belief that it is the only way for the renaissance of the nation and its prosperity and progress, and that the country should be built with the hands of teachers and thinkers and scientists.
The Educational Forum was attended by Dr. Saeed Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Education Council, Dr. Rashad Salem, Director of Al Qasimia University, Dr. Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director of Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah, a number of Ministry of Education undersecretaries, Mr. Mohammad Diab Al Mousa, and many workers from the educational field from different emirates and cities of the country, as well as a selection of leaders and experts from different countries of the world in the field of the development of education and teachers.
